Cranberry Genealogy Club By-Laws
Article I: Name
The name of this organization is the Cranberry Genealogy Club.
Article II: Purpose
The purposes of this organization are:
* Assemble people who are interested in genealogy and preserving family history.
* Promote family history research by providing educational and research opportunities.
* Offer community services in genealogical and historical endeavors.
Article III: Membership
Any applicant interested in furthering the objectives of this Club shall be accepted for membership upon submission of a completed application form and payment of dues. The membership year will run from January 1 through December 31. New members will be accepted throughout the year; however, all memberships expire on December 31.

Article III: Membership

Article IV: Officers
The officers of the Club and their prescribed duties shall be:
President Conduct the Club’s meetings Conduct the Executive Board meetings May co-sign checks written from the Club’s account.
Program Director Schedule speakers and/or activities for membership meetings Publicize meetings and activities Arrange for meeting space May co-sign checks written from the Club’s account.
Treasurer Handle all financial duties for the Club co-sign checks written from the Club’s account Pay bills of the Club Maintain financial records Provide regular financial reports to the membership and to the Executive Board
Secretary Take minutes at each general meeting and distribute to membership Create a record of all who are in attendance at each meeting Take minutes at each Executive Board meeting Handle the Club’s correspondence Maintain permanent records of all meetings and attendance at those meetings.
Membership Director Process membership applications and give collected dues to Treasurer for deposit Maintain current list of all members and make this information available to members of Executive Board Maintain current contact information for each member Notify members whose dues are in arrears and remove from membership roll if renewal is not received.
Officers will serve one-year terms, from January 1 through December 31 of each year. Officers will be elected by simple majority vote of those in attendance at the October meeting of the general membership. Members, including incumbents, who wish to be on the ballot, should notify any member of the Executive Board no later than September 30.

Article V: Executive Board Composition and Duties
The Executive Board shall be responsible for oversight of all Club activities, goals, and financial status. The Executive Board will be comprised of all officers of the Club. The Executive Board will determine the amount of dues for the following year no later than October 31 of each year. The Executive Board will make recommendations to the membership regarding business activities of the Club. The Executive Board will appoint a new officer to fill any vacancy that occurs during the Fiscal Year. The Executive Board may replace any officer who is not performing the duties of the office. This shall be done only after attempting to meet with the officer to resolve any issues. The Executive Board will establish special committees or assistants to any officers as needed. Appoint delegates to other societies and clubs where the Executive Board deems such membership will further our Purposes.
Article V: Meetings
There shall be no fewer than nine regular monthly meetings each year. The Executive Board shall establish the day, time, and place where the meetings shall be held. The Club’s annual meeting shall be held in October, at which time officers will be elected and the year’s activities shall be reviewed.
Article VI: Finances
The operating expenses of the Club shall be covered from collection of dues, donations, sales of publications, and additional functions as the membership may authorize. Dues for the current fiscal year must accompany all applications for membership. The Executive Board shall designate the financial institution in which the funds of the Club are to be deposited. The signatures of any two designated officers are required to withdraw money from or write a check against the Club’s account. The Club’s fiscal year shall be January 1 through December 31. In the event of dissolution of the Club, all salable assets shall be converted to cash. The monies of the Club shall be used to purchase genealogical materials for the Cranberry Township Public Library.
Article VII: Approval and Amendments to By-Laws
These by-laws can be adopted and amended by a two-thirds vote of the Membership in attendance at the general meeting, provided the by-laws and proposed amendments are included in the minutes of the previous regular meeting.
